WE ARE HIRING!

MASSAGE THERAPIST JOB DESCRIPTION -- THE INSIDE SCOOP

  • Who are we?

Heal Pgh is a small but mighty clinic primarily focusing on orthopedic and neurological acupuncture and highly-skilled and unique massage and bodywork services. Opened in 2017, the clinic has steadily grown and is well established in Pittsburgh’s Northside.  The clinic is run by Amy Green, a 2000 graduate of the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy as well as a licensed acupuncturist focusing primarily in orthopedics and neurological conditions, and Ian Green, a 2013 graduate of the Pittsburgh School of Massage and a professional artist and musician. We have an amazing team of massage therapists, acupuncturists, and administrative staff who are dedicated to producing the best treatments and experience possible.

Currently, we have more demand for appointments than we can accommodate and are actively looking to expand our team. When we hire newly graduated therapists, we provide extensive, focused training so that they become the next generation of Pittsburgh’s best bodyworkers.

    What We Offer

Steady and reliably-booked schedule at a busy and reputable clinic.

Full-time administrative support for scheduling, checking in and out, and some room turnover support.

Company sponsored health insurance, paid time off, vision and dental plan, supplemental insurance (hospital, short term disability, cancer).

Paid training, continuing education, licensure renewal, CPR certification, and uniform shirts.

Optional paid study time for paid cancellations/no-show appointments.

    Culture

Our clinic is known for our quality of treatments as well as a non-rushed atmosphere. Clients who book an hour-long massage get the full hour of time on the table, and our therapists get a 30 minute buffer in between every appointment, which allows them to provide aftercare suggestions to the client, flip the room, chart, have a bite to eat, review the next client’s chart, and get centered before their sessions. We want our therapists to feel valued, make a great income, stay engaged, and enjoy coming to work. We offer many different services for clients and staff alike, which help create variety and interest during the day. There is a lot of cross-referral between acupuncture patients and massage clientele. We often refer and/or co-treat, which means our patients and clients get better faster and feel supported by having an in-house care team.

Our current staff is composed of friendly, intelligent, warm-hearted and good-natured folks of varying backgrounds who all show up to do their best. We have a good time at the office and support each other. It is a welcoming and supportive environment, and we have fun, as well!

    Therapist Position

Our required minimum is 4 shifts a week (with the option of 5) with at least one shift being on a weekend day. Weekday shifts run 8-2 and 2-8, and weekend shifts are 10-5. Both early and late shifts are available.

The ideal candidate need not have significant professional massage experience, but they must be:

    -passionate and eager to learn

-able to deliver good deep tissue work while knowing to not go too deep

-bring a good attitude to work even if having a bad personal day

-keep appropriate boundaries around personal information and opinions with clients and other staff

-feel comfortable recommending follow-up treatment to clients

-communicate maturely and responsibility to clients, other therapists, and administrative staff

    Compensation and Benefits Package

Your starting commission rate at HealPgh will be determined by the combination of your skill set and how much paid training we will need to provide. The rate will increase with competencies gained in our core group of bodywork treatments which include: Hot Stone Massage, CBDeep, Safe & Sound, Prenatal Massage, Cupping, Reflexology, and the Body Ritual treatments. It is required to be willing to learn and offer all of these services to join the team.

As these services are learned through on-site paid study time, the rate of compensation will increase from between 36-38% up to 40% which we aim to accomplish within 6 months of hire. On average, a therapist working 5 days a week, 32-34 hours a week, with between 20-24 hands on hours, can gross between $1100-$1300 plus cash tips. Hourly pay ranges from $39-$55 an hour, including buffer times and tips.

With a minimum of 26 hours of scheduled shifts per week, you are able to receive health insurance with 50% of a Gold level plan paid for by the company. We pay for licensing renewal, malpractice insurance, continuing education costs, paid time off (more valuable than simply sick pay), uniform shirts, and on-site training time. Payday is weekly by direct deposit. We also offer a vision and dental plan as well as supplemental insurance (life, hospital, cancer, short term disability) via AFLAC.

An employee wellness program is in place so that therapists receive regular complimentary massages.

Continuing Education - Our owners love what they do and bring a passion for continuous learning to the clinic. They believe that offering employees a job where they can better themselves through on-the-job training benefits everyone, especially the clients. To this end, HealPgh covers costs of continuing education (with prior approval for modalities actively performed in our clinic), licensure, CPR, and malpractice insurance for its employees once they complete their first full year of employment. We also offer on-going on-site training and workshops in technique, assessment, and communication.

Location - We are located in the heart of the up and coming Cheatu business district - in the area West of I65.  We’re convenient to I-376, I-279, Rt. 28, Downtown, and the West End Bridge. Within walking distance of our clinic is the Northside Biking Trail, a seasonal brewery:  East End Brewing - Pop up Beer Garden, and the Legacy Cafe is on the first floor of our building.  Also Nearby are Bicycle Heaven and the Manchester Craftsman Guild.
